We know that our Braunhart patriarch -
Lewin Jacob Braunhart, was a renowned teacher at a Jewish school in Schubin. We also know that he was awarded the title of Ritter von Braunhart by the Emperor at some time in his life.
I believe that this article from the Sacramento Daily Record-Union, dated October 3, 1884 confirms it.
